Born in 1969, Alex Hart (formerly Alexandra Lynch) grew up in New York City, graduated from Smith College and New York Law School, and worked for several years as a writer and editor for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Miserable in straight-laced law school, she made her first painting in 1994, and continues to combine acrylic paint and collaged papers to portray still lifes, buildings, and people, plus make forays into video, fashion, and street art. Her work has been shown in New York and Massachusetts galleries and on limited-edition “art mugs” for NPR. In recent years, she has embraced writing and illustrating children’s books, poetry and a memoir. She now lives in Porto, Portugal.
